Pre- & Post-Commissioning Tests for Transformers

Our Pre- and Post-Commissioning Testing Services ensure the reliability, performance, and safety of transformers during initial installation and after commissioning. These tests are conducted using state-of-the-art equipment to verify compliance with technical specifications and industry standards.

Pre-Commissioning Tests

Tests on Bushings

  • Capacitance & Tan Delta Measurement at 10kV:
Evaluates insulation integrity and aging in bushings.
  • Insulation Resistance (IR) Testing:
Confirms the quality of insulation in bushings.

Tests on Turret CT (Current Transformer)

  • Insulation Resistance Ratio Measurement:
Validates the insulation quality of CTs.
  • Continuity Testing:
    Ensures proper electrical connections.
  • Knee Point Determination:
Identifies the excitation characteristics of CTs for accuracy.

Isolation Test

  • Conducted using a 5kV Megger to ensure effective insulation between components.

Post-Commissioning Tests

Capacitance & Tan Delta Measurement

    • Bushings at 10kV: Assesses the dielectric condition of bushings.
    • Windings at 10kV: Evaluates insulation performance and aging in windings.
  1. Vector Group & Polarity Verification
    • Confirms the correct phase displacement and polarity alignment of the transformer.
  1. Magnetizing Current Determination
    • Performed at low voltage for three taps to assess core magnetization characteristics.
  1. Insulation Resistance & PI Measurement
    • Conducted with a 5kV Megger to evaluate insulation health and performance over time.
  1. On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC) Testing
    • Ratio and Continuity Measurement: Ensures the OLTC functions correctly across all taps.
  1. Winding Resistance Measurement
    • Performed on all taps and windings to detect potential issues like winding deformation.
  1. Isolation Test
    • Conducted using a 2kV Megger to ensure effective insulation after commissioning.
  1. Impedance Measurement
    • Performed at low voltage across all taps to verify winding and core integrity.
  1. Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA)
    • Conducted for all combinations to detect mechanical displacement or winding deformation.

Happy Clients

The Erection & Commissioning Service is conceptually used in the installation process of several industrial plants. We are backed by a team of adroit personnel who render these services in the most efficient way within the postulated time frame. Also, these services are greatly appreciated by our patrons for their nimbleness. We offer ETC services for Transformer/Reactor/CT/PT/CVT having various ratings. We have rich domain expertise and dedicated manpower for the erection of small to higher rating Transformers. We follow all the safety standards with the consent of the customer to avoid any minor or major incidents. After the completion of ETC work, a certificate will be provided ensuring the installations are done perfectly.

Testing is extremely essential for preventive as well as breakdown maintenance. Excellent Diagnostic and Research Agency has a dedicated testing team furnished with advanced instruments, which conducts tests with accuracy, reliability, and repeatability. The teams are well trained and equipped to thoroughly and reliably test all kinds of installations in a switchyard and transmission lines.

The Entire Process

Pre-erection activities are completed before starting erection

Erection of built-in parts of the plant

Erection of the main operating components

  1. Erection is similar to installation however erection is to install something piece by piece that rises up.
  2. Commissioning is bringing the installed thing into running as per the required professional standards.
  3. Testing means to confirm the installed device is running with complete functionality and it is delivering the required output.
Pre-erection activities
  • Preparation of a plan for the implementation of erection work and sequence of various activities
  • Site storage planning consists of open, locked, semi-closed storage and road construction, connection for plant distribution to assembly field.
  • Erection of temporary structures, living quarters needed to work smoothly and quickly on the site.
  • Building power, water, compressed air system for erection operations. DG sets of sufficient capacity to be retained when a power failure occurs.
  • Arrangement of lighting of erection site and nearby area.
  • Ensure the timely supply of equipment and materials needed for the continuation of erection work in conjunction with charts and schedules.
  • Providing installation plans for hoisting, carrying systems, instruments, and equipment as well as coordinating the transfer of material to the site. The content will be removed and transferred to a pre-identified position in the unloading port.
  • Arrangement of protective measures to protect workers and machinery during the storage, transport, and deployment of various plant components.
  • In the first point, a well-coordinated overall plan is planned for the development of civil works and activities related to the building of hydro-mechanical and hydro-generating systems.

  • A PERT / CPM shall be established to track current operations and sensitive activities in order to prevent any interruption in the plan.

  • The number of building works to be finished by months in keeping with the project’s total planned construction timetable.

  • Big activity-wise PERTs are established displaying sequence and length of activities matching delivery schedule and civil building activities to track erection works in charge. This should provide a timeline and length as per the total timetable of all essential and concurrent tasks to complete the erection work.
